Obituary for Mildred Anita Johnson

Mildred Anita Johnson left her home on earth to joyfully meet her Lord and Savior on February 23, 2019. She missed her 100th birthday by one month. Milly was born in Phelps, Wisconsin. Her dad, Carl, came to the US from Norway and he met Milly's mom, Jennie, in Wisconsin. He worked on a mink ranch there and they had lots of fun playing in the great outdoors. Milly graduated from her high school class as Salutatorian and after graduation worked several jobs in the area where she used her excellent typing skills. Her favorite job was working at the First National Bank. It was there that she met and fell in love with a quiet young man, Wally Johnson, who had just served in the army during World War II. As they worked together, they fell deeply in love and were married in April 1949. They spent 68 wonderful years together.

In 1952 they moved to Eureka, CA, and eventually ended up in Crescent City, CA, right after the 1964 tidal wave. Milly and Wally had two children, Don and Linda. Don married Robin and they had three children. Linda married Mark Miller and they had three children also.

Milly had a God given gift when it came to writing poetry. She published two books that were all about her life experiences, her family, her friends and her love of God. She won many blue ribbons for her poems at our local fair. She also was very active in her church and sang in the choir.

Milly was preceded in death by her husband, Wally Johnson, her parents, Carl and Jennie Larsen, her brother, Harvey Larsen, her granddaughter, Erin Johnson and her grandson Kyran Miller.

Milly is survived by her son and daughter-in-law of Vancouver, Washington, Don and Robin Johnson and her daughter and son-in-law Mark and Linda Miller of Crescent City, CA. She had six grandchildren, Dan (Terie), Steve (Kathy), Jonathon (Jessica), Erin, Wendy and Jennifer (Irwin). She had eight great grandchildren, Madeleine, Niah, Asja, Matteo, Kyran, Josiah, Sofia and Kaiden.

Milly loved her family more than life itself. She also had a special gift for helping those in need. Her faith in God from a young age sustained her throughout the years. Her legacy to her family was: “If I go to heaven before any of you, remember how happy I will be when I see you again—then we will NEVER part anymore and will forever be with Jesus!”.
