Obituary for Sherman LeRoy Shultz

Sherman LeRoy Shultz passed away quietly in his sleep on July 12, 2019. He died due to complications from congestive heart failure. Sherman was born in Spokane, Washington on March 27, 1937, the third child of Arthur and Rena Shultz. He spent his younger years in Spokane with his siblings, sister Joan and brother Art.

Sherman and his wife Barbara Lois (Kubena) Shultz moved to the area 56 years ago where they made a home for themselves and their six children. Sherman was employed as a logger for 45 years and worked as a commercial fisherman for 4 years.

He was also a lifelong member of his church, and for the last 22 years he has attended the Smith River Baptist Church. Sherman was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and hunting in his off time. Sherman was involved in a logging accident, which ended his work career. His hobbies after the accident included vegetable gardening; woodcrafts; building clocks, birdhouses and toys for friends and family; and just staying busy. During this time, he developed a strong fellowship at his church attending weekly prayer meetings and bible study.

Sherman is survived by his wife Barbara, his children Vonda (Andy), Carla, Annette, Ross (Shelley), Rick (Susan) and Craig; his 24 grandchildren; and his 51 great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his granddaughter Stacey Lynn (Fry) Pico, his parents Arthur and Rena Shultz, and his brother Art Shultz.
