Obituary for Wesley L. Rook

Wesley L. Rook, 83, of Crescent City passed away on September 25th., 2018 at his home surrounded by loved ones.

A private inurnment will be held at Del Norte County Veterans Cemetery on Thursday October 4th., 2018 at 11:00 am. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Wesley’s life at his home in Crescent City at 2:00 pm following private services.

Wesley was born in San Francisco, CA to Roy and Ruby Rook on June 21st., 1935. He attended local Del Norte County schools. He married Ann Binder on December 27, 1958 in Eureka, CA. In his earlier years he worked in the timber industry where he performed all jobs and retired as a self-employed commercial fisherman. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was involved in B.P.O.E, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Crescent City Jaycees, Fisherman’s Marketing Association.

Wesley is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Ruby Rook, sister Connie Luis, and Infant Son.

Wesley is survived by his wife Ann Rook Crescent City; Children: Carrie Hammond (Laton Hammond) Red Rock, AZ; Carolyn Dikes Crescent City; Raymond Rook (Trisha Rook) Crescent City; Roy Rook (Kendri Rook) Crescent City. Grandchildren: Jason Dikes, Josiah Dikes, Heather Dikes, Stephen Hammond, Leland Hammond, Kyle Dikes (Sarah Dikes), Lumara Hammond, Kevin Dikes, Ryan Rook (Whitney Rook), Trevor Rook, Kaylie Rook, and Kristyn Kakitsuka (Brandon Kakitsuka). Great Grandchildren: Caleb Dikes, David Dikes, Vance Rosso, Valentino Hammond, Ethan Hammond, and Abigail Rook.

His interests included: family fellowship, reading, sports, enjoying coffee with his friends at Fisherman’s Restaurant. and boating, where he spent many years boat racing and fishing on the Klamath River. Wesley also enjoyed spending time with his dog Buddy. Buddy was a constant companion who gave him great joy.

Wesley had extreme love and compassion for his family. He always enjoyed the family being together.

Donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
