Dorothy “Dot” Lynn Beard (Schneider) passed away unexpectedly in her home on May 11, 2022 in Crescent City, CA.
Dot is survived by her daughter, Marci Beard, her grandchildren, Austin Halley (Katelyn) & Belle Clough, and her great-grandchildren, Zoey Halley, Gabriel Menchaca, Silas Menchaca and Nevaeh Halley. She was preceded in death by her mother, Avis Huffman (Stanford), her father, Bill Beard, and her sister, Susan McGahuey.
Dot was a life-long resident of Del Norte County and had a colorful career of tending bar and waiting tables at many local iconic establishments like Everett’s and the Frontier, before she went to work at the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Department, where she later retired as a Sargent.
After her retirement, Dot lived for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dogs, Hoss & Cabela. She spent many hours combing the beach for pretties and agates.
Dot was not big on grandstanding, so an informal memorial will be held for her at Endert’s beach picnic area on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 1:00pm.
