Surrounded by family, LeRoy “Roy” Earl Duncan passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 in Brookings, Oregon at the age of 85. He was born on February 23, 1937 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Vernal and Thelma Duncan.
Roy came to Crescent City in 1956 where he met and married Barbara Gould. Roy was a heavy equipment mechanic for Brizard-Matthews Machinery Co., Simonson Lumber Co., and a mechanic/heavy equipment operator for North Coast Paving for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union. After retirement he devoted his time to guiding on the Klamath, Chetco, and Rogue Rivers. All of Roy's life he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time fishing on the rivers and ocean with his buddies.
Roy worked hard and was a good family man. He loved and was proud of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernal and Thelma Duncan, his brothers Robert Duncan and Joseph Duncan, and his sister Beverly McNamara.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 67 years, his children: Rick Duncan (Mary Jo), Mark Duncan (Lisa), and Tami Coulson (Rod); his grandchildren: Aaron Duncan (Rita), Casey Duncan (Vanessa), Todd Duncan (Tiffany), Ashley Brous (Darren), Courtney Duncan (Chad), and Brock Coulson (Paige); his great grandchildren: Trevor & Addie Duncan, Ryker & Reyna Duncan, Harli & Finley Brous, and Brody & Brice Coulson; sisters: Katherine Forkner and Patricia Earl; his uncle Irv Warren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
