Malena Edwina Stewart Sr (Ingram) passed away at her residence in Klamath, CA on September 8th, 2023. She had her companion pet Heart by her side. She was only 58.
Malena was born in San Francisco, CA to Frances Edwina Lopez-Ingram, and Calib Joe Ingram and had 3 siblings. Malena grew up in Portland, Oregon and came back to Del Norte County as an adult. She was a Tolowa tribal member.
Malena enjoyed her time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all of her neighbor kids. She was always there when asked. Malena was always trying to help people, even though she didn’t have much to share. She had a big heart and gave everyone a chance, no matter what background they may have had.
Malena is survived by her daughter, Machelle Bates and her husband Lance, their children Mason, Nik-wec, Segep, Chulhs, Malena Jr. , Nemechay, and Curah Bates. Mason Lehr and his wife Allexxa gave her two great-grandchildren, Kalvein and Hokw-check. She loved them very much and enjoyed watching them wander freely. She’d follow them around the yard all day. Nik-wec is serving in the army, and married to Layla Bates, she was very proud of him. Malena's son Gerald Stewart Jr. and his wife Tiffany gave her three grandsons, Benjamin, Bruceand their youngest son, Jaxsin. Gerald works hard for his family, and his wife is the glue that holds them together. Mom was really proud of the family Gerald and his wife are building. Malena’s youngest son is Eddie Koch. Eddie had a rough start as an adult. She was proud of Eddie for overcoming difficult obstacles in life and how he is accomplishing his goals. Eddie was there to check on his mom regularly and she felt his love for her.
Per her wishes she has been cremated and will have a private burial.
