He was born on June 22, 1962, and grew up in Grand Haven, Michigan, where he received his education and developed a lifelong passion for cars and stock car races. His love for vehicles extended beyond the racetrack, with a particular fondness for watching the derby and monster trucks at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds. He was a familiar face at the fairgrounds, where he worked in maintenance, a job that allowed him to immerse himself in the coastal community he loved.
Mike enjoyed music, camping, swimming and watching football, his favorite team being the San Francisco 49ers. In his passing, we remember not just the end, but the journey that Mike took throughout his life. Mike was a man who cherished the simple joys in life. He was a man who loved the roar of an engine, the thrill of a race, the tranquility of nature, the excitement of a football game, and the warmth of friendship and family. Those who knew Mike will remember him for his infectious laughter, spirited nature, and his compassionate and kind heart.
