Obituary
Patricia Lynne Alexander
of Gasquet passed away unexpectedly on May 19th, 2026.
She was 75.
Patti was born June 10,
1950, in Medford, Oregon to Bob and Doris Leavitt and was the
first of what would
become a family of 4 children. In 1954 the family, which then
included little brother
Mike, moved to Crescent City where Patti attended local schools,
graduating from Del Norte
High School in 1968. Following high school she studied at
Shasta Junior College. In
1969, following her father’s sudden death, Patti returned to
Crescent City and began
her adult working career. She held many interesting jobs at
Eureka Fisheries, the
Greyhound Bus Depot, G & G Liquors, Y Liquors and eventually
the Del Norte County
School District where she drove school bus and later retired as a
classified worker.
In 1977 she met her new
neighbor in Gasquet, John Alexander, and was immediately
taken by his warm and fun
personality. They married in 1979 and spent the next 29
years enjoying their home
in Gasquet, traveling and spending winters at their second
home in Yuma, Arizona.
Sadly, their life together was cut short when John passed away
in 2008. Yuma just wasn’t
the same without John so Patti made Gasquet her permanent
home where she could be
close to family and her many dear friends.
Patti had many interests
and was an avid sports fan. Saturdays in the Fall she would
usually be found watching
Oregon Ducks football and on Sundays, her beloved San
Francisco 49ers. She was
a voracious reader and excellent chef. She always found
great joy in preparing
new and exciting meals for her family and friends.
Patti was known for and
will forever be remembered for her incredible capacity for love
and kindness. She was
always quick to help family and friends in need and never
hesitated to share a kind
and encouraging word with those she encountered. She had
an innate ability to
bring joy to those around her.
Patti was preceded in
death by her father and mother, her husband John and younger
brother Mike Leavitt. She
is survived by her sister-in-law Vicky Leavitt, her youngest
brother Terry Leavitt
(Sue), sister Barbara Howard (Jim), stepsister Leann Thompson,
many nieces, nephews,
cousins and her adopted family of Juan and Silvia Gamez, all of
whom loved her dearly.
Patti will be interred
next to her late husband in a private ceremony, and a public
celebration of life will
be held at a date and location to be announced.
