Obituary

Rose Alling, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023, in Crescent City, California, at the age of 81, with her children by her side. Born on January 3, 1942, in Martinez, California, to Phil Sr. and Romola Luna. Rose grew up in a warm, nurturing environment that shaped her into the gentle soul remembered by all.

Rose's life was a testament to her loving nature and dedication to her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Alling, her caring parents, Phil Sr. and Romola Luna, her sister, Linda Muir, and her brother, Fred Luna. The legacy of her love and perseverance lives on through her children, Veronica Finley, Lynette Alling Myers (married to Jimmy), John Alling, and her foster son, Justin Barton. Rose was the proud grandmother to Tim and Drew Finley, Tanner Alling, and great-grandmother to Andrew Jr. and Jackson Finley. She also held a special place in her heart for her goddaughter, Jennifer Muir. Rose's brother, Phil Luna Jr. (married to Darlene), along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, will hold dear the memory of her compassionate spirit.

Rose was a product of Antioch Sr High School, from which she graduated with a determination to make a difference in the world. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to attend college courses in Bookkeeping and Social Services, further equipping her to serve her community with expertise and empathy. Rose's professional life was marked by her years as a Social Worker in Contra Costa County and Curry County, where she touched countless lives through her work. Her career was not just a job but a calling that she fulfilled with utmost passion and grace.

Those who knew Rose understood that words like "loving," "gentle," and "kind" were not mere descriptors but the very essence of her being. Her presence brought comfort and her actions, a quiet strength that uplifted those around her. Rose's gentle demeanor was matched by an unwavering strength that saw her family through times of joy and sorrow alike.
As a mother, Rose instilled in her children the values of compassion and generosity. She nurtured their dreams with the same care and attention she gave to her beloved garden, watching both flourish under her watchful eye. As a grandmother and great-grandmother, Rose's wisdom and tales of yesteryear were the threads that wove a tapestry of family history and tradition, cherished by each generation.
The impact of Rose's life extended beyond the confines of her home. Her community felt the warmth of her generosity, whether through her professional support to those in need or the countless ways she volunteered her time and resources. Rose's legacy is one of selfless love and the belief that every individual deserved dignity and respect.

The loss of Rose Alling will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Yet, the beauty of her spirit will continue to bloom in the hearts of her family and friends, much like the roses in the garden she so lovingly tended. Rose's life was a journey of giving, and her memory will forever be a guiding light for those she leaves behind.|

As the sun sets on a life so beautifully lived, we bid farewell to Rose Alling, a woman whose existence was a gift to all who knew her. Her story does not end here, for in the legacy of love she has left behind, Rose will continue to inspire and guide us from beyond, reminding us that the truest form of immortality is found in the love we share and the lives we touch.
Services will be held at a later date in Antioch, California.
