It is with great sadness to announce that Cheryl Lynn Tomlinson, a loving and courageous woman known for her generosity, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved nieces on May 20, 2023, in Crescent City, California. Born on April 25, 1962, in Crescent City, California, Cheryl spent most of her life in the beautiful coastal town she called home. She will be fondly remembered by her family, friends, and community for the countless lives she touched and the positive impact she left on those she knew.
Cheryl was a proud Del Norte High School alumna, graduating with the Class of 1980. She carried her Warrior spirit with her throughout her life, always embodying the traits of strength, perseverance, and dedication that defined her alma mater. After high school, Cheryl went on to build an impressive career, beginning with her work for the state parks in Yosemite, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii. Over a span of a decade, she developed a deep love for nature and the beauty of the world around her.
Later Cheryl returned to Crescent City and began a 13-year career with the Del Norte County Probation Department, where she was dedicated to helping others and making a difference in her community. Cheryl's generosity and kindness extended to her work with the Elk Valley Rancheria, where she served as an accountant for five years, forging lifelong friendships and touching the lives of many.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Darlene Tomlinson, sisters Michelle Bolen and Charity Davis, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her only brother Marty Tomlinson, her nieces Heather and Shala Bolen, Shyna' Flores Bolen, Sasha Miller, Hannah Martin, and many other nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. Cheryl's love for her family was unwavering, and she was always there for them, offering support, encouragement, and her signature warm embrace.
Cheryl's courageous spirit and loving nature were evident in her approach to life. She faced adversity with determination and grace, always striving to make the world a better place for those around her. Her generosity extended far beyond her family and friends, touching the lives of countless individuals who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her.
