David Earl Plunkett, born on April 29, 1942, in Marshall, Missouri, to Earl and Willa Elaine Plunkett. He embarked on the journey with his wife Charlette for a wonderful sixty years. On August 13, 2023, in Crescent City, California, David left behind a legacy of family and undying love.
After serving his country in the U.S. Army, David swapped his uniform and service for paintbrush and fatherhood. He is survived by his wife Charlette, children Linda Diane (Jeff), Elisa Dee (Kevin), Lesley Dawn (A.C), and Amanda Lynn. Pop-Pops leaves a gaggle of shitbirds, also known as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, William Earl.
Later, he became a commercial fisherman and then the Co-Owner Operator of Plunkett's Family Painting with his wife, Charlette. He worked beside his wife and children for over 30 years, building a successful business. His work wasn't just about slapping paint on walls but about bringing craftsmanship and quality into people's lives. He was a generous man, always ready to lend a hand or an invite to his home for holidays.
Dave was a man of many hats, literally. Still, one of his proudest roles was being a three-time Past Exalted Ruler at the Crescent City Elks Lodge #1689. His love for his Elks family was only eclipsed by his love for his family. His leadership was marked by his hard work and brotherly love.
In his younger years, Dave was an avid hunter and fisherman. His love for the great outdoors was only matched by sharing his passion with his son, Willie. In his later years, he loved golf and the friendships formed on the course and the clubhouse. His favorite activity was crabbing with the "King of the Hill" gang, his lifelong friends Raymond, Nick, Paul, Kirk, and Kevin. He enjoyed lining the driveway with freshly caught crab and sharing the spoils of their successful crabbing adventures.
In the end, what made David so remarkable was not just his work ethic but his love and generosity. He was a loving husband, a generous friend, a thoughtful leader, and a man of his word. His stories, scowls, and unending love will keep his memory alive in our hearts and minds.
As we say goodbye to our beloved husband, father and friend, we will carry his love and support with us always.
