In Loving Memory Of

Janice Aline Hartwick

July 27th, 1939 - May 31st, 2026

Obituary

Janice “Jan” Aline Hartwick, 86, passed away with her family by her side on May 31st, 2026,
after a short but courageous journey with a brain tumor, meeting it with strength and grace.
Jan and her twin sister Beverly were born on July 27th, 1939, in Eufala, Oklahoma, to the late
Marshall Cline and Irene Brady Cline Wood. They would move to Eureka, Ca and then up to
Crescent City shortly after. Jan graduated from Del Norte High School in 1958 and met her
future husband Acie Hartwick at the drive inn theater.  They would be married for 38 years
before his passing in 1996. They were blessed with 4 children, Chuck, Terri, Stacie and Wendy.
Jan was a long-term employee at Pacific Power, Bank of America and Blue Star Gas.

Jan loved puzzles, her swimming pool, any type of knitting or crocheting, penny machines at the
casino with her sister and daughters, sipping her morning coffee, all things Elvis, and her
grandchildren who she named “Grandma’s Angel’s” early on. She always made sure her kitchen
was filled with everyone’s favorite snacks. We knew going to grandma’s house we were in for a
full breakfast or grilled cheese sandwiches with chip and dip. Spending the weekends with her
and lounging by the pool are some of our favorite memories.
She taught us kindness, hard work, sacrifice and the importance of family, which was arguably
her most important achievement in life. She was more than a mother, grandmother and friend –
she was the heart of the family. Her love will stay with us, in the small traditions she passed
down and the big hearts she helped shape.

She is survived by her children Terri Colton, Stacie Hartwick and Wendy Hartwick.
Grandchildren, Courtney Candela (Ricardo), Vannessa Leon (Serafin), Caitlyn Griffin (Richard),
Jacob Hartwick-Gutierrez, Layton Brooks and Ciera Brooks. Great-grandchildren, Cruz, Karson,
Aiden, Rogue, Lorenzo and Adalie. Nieces and nephews, Dana Nails (Brett), Belinda Dillard,
Nathan Nails and Ethan Nails.

She is preceded in death by her husband Acie Hartwick; son Charles Hartwick and her twin
sister Beverly Dillard.

We want to express our gratitude to the nurses and medical staff of Sutter Coast Home Care and
Hospice. We cannot thank you enough for all you did and all your loving support these last few
months.
