Michael
“Mike” Robert McGilvary passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, in
Crescent City, California after a short illness.
Mike was born at Seaside Hospital in Crescent City,
California on June 5, 1957, to
James & Rosemary McGilvary. Mike was a
lifelong resident of Crescent City. He
attended local schools and worked as a painter.
Mike enjoyed woodworking and had the love and friendship of
all his special dogs;
Arthur, Cookie, Harry, Allie, Termite, and Uno.
Mike was known to enjoy mowing his
lawn and landscaping. He loved the beach and the
river. In younger years Mike played
baseball, basketball, golf, and softball. Mike
was a friend to many.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents James &
Rosemary McGilvary, his son
Michael Levi McGilvary, and his brother Kevin.
He is survived by his sisters Mary Jo
Duncan (Rick), Karen Bachmann (Steve), brother
Matthew McGilvary (Michelle);
nephews, Aaron Duncan (Rita), Casey Duncan
(Vanessa), Todd Duncan (Tiffany), Tyler
Bachmann (Amber), Alex McGilvary (Allison),
Scott McGilvary (Kayla); nieces, Chelsey
Castellaw (Stephen), and Katie Rondeau (Sean);
great nephews, Trevor Duncan, Ryker
Duncan, Chase Bachmann, Rorik Rondeau, and Emrik
Rondeau; great nieces, Baylee
Dundom, Taylor Bachmann, Addie Duncan, Reyna
Duncan, and Gianna Castellaw.
